01Why we showed up
Decisions about a community should include the people who know it.
Holomua Outreach works throughout this homeless community to bring awareness, provide emergency supplies, and help prevent displacement along Holomua Road.
When Bill 95 was proposed in support of the Pāʻia Fire Mitigation Plan, we brought that daily experience into the public process.
Our position
Safety should not become a pretext for displacement.
Fire safety
The Pāʻia community’s fear of fire deserves serious attention, planning, and practical mitigation.
Community care
People should not be treated as disposable when public agencies address safety concerns.
The work between meetings
Our position comes from returning to the road, listening, providing care, organizing cleanups, and building trust over time.
